GET STRONG FIRST, THEN GO.
Strength Training
No matter your goal, having strength to maintain good posture and move efficiently is key. Adding load from a pack or lengthening the duration of your objective makes strength even more important for longevity and durability. In-person strength sessions ensure you have the correct form to build strength, not compensations.
Technique
Running doesn’t need to hurt! Our bodies are great at modifying and creating compensatory movement patterns from past injuries, poor posture, and bad habits (i.e. sitting at a desk all day) but we are also equally adept at learning new ways to move and engage in our physical worlds. With a few cues, you can learn to run in a way that is healthy for your joints and something you can do the rest of your life.
bodywork
Whatever your goal, a combination of massage, myofascial, neuromuscular, and craniosacral therapy techniques and movement retraining will help ease restrictions, increase range of motion, stretch muscle fibers, increase body awareness, and restore balance to help you move better and perform your best. Sessions are sports-specific to focus on key muscles and draw attention to supportive muscles that can contribute to soreness, imbalance, and injury.

Growing up amid the wheat fields of eastern Oregon, Alison has always been drawn to open spaces. She spent college under the big skies of Montana where she rock climbed, backpacked, and eventually combined the two for big adventure-filled days before finding her true love in trail running. She ran her first trail race in 2000, first 50k in 2003, and has been hooked on long mountain days ever since, exploring wild places and challenging her body and mind. In 2007 she began coaching, while working at the Seattle Running Company and completing her massage training at Brian Utting School of Massage. She’s worked with athletes ever since, and began Cascade Endurance in 2010.
Alison is part of the Uphill Athlete Coaching Team, providing comprehensive training to athletes across the Pacific Northwest, and beyond.
Her coaching approach addresses each aspect of her athletes' training: strength and aerobic fitness, speed, injury prevention, running economy and form, event specific planning, and mental preparation, all while balancing the other aspects of her athletes’ lives. Her professional background as a massage therapist gives her a deep understanding of the way we move and function, which informs her athletes' individualized workouts.
