After the race in 2019, we handed the annual fun to Methow Valley Nordic Ski Educational Foundation but since you may have landed here for info, here it is.

When: May 23-25, 2020

Entry Fee: Free.  However, we ask all participants who are financially able to make a donation to the Cove, the Methow Valley’s food bank.  You can visit their donation page here.  In the past weeks, the Cove has seen need for their services increase to between 150% and 300+% of pre-pandemic levels.

Registration: via Webscorer through May 25th!

In light of current restrictions on gathering, Methow Valley Nordic will be hosting the Mazama Fun Run Virtually.  This year it’s easier than ever to be a part of this family-friendly event!

We have two goals:

  1. Give everyone a boost of motivation for a Memorial Day weekend run, walk, hike or jog.

  2. Give us all a way to help our neighbors affected by the pandemic, by raising funds for the Cove, the Methow Valley’s food bank

It’s Simple:

  1. Register here for the event

  2. Complete the 1k, 5k, or 10k anytime over the Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-25, 2020), on a course of your choosing.

  3. Submit your results online thru the link sent prior to the race.

After the race, we’ll compile and post results.  Results will include any fun photos that you share with us of your participation, including pre-race warm-up, your run (walk, hike or jog), and any post-race celebration (remember, pancakes are a tradition at the Mazama Fun Run!).  We’ve come up with a few fun categories too, but that won’t limit us if you’re especially creative!

The course:

Run where ever you want.  You decide your course.  Heck you can even run it on a treadmill or in your backyard! Course measurement is up to you.  We are using the honor system here for reporting – it’s a Fun Run after all!

We ask that all competitors to stay healthy by following the guidelines of local, state and federal health authorities, and to recreate responsibly by respecting any private or public land closures.  Click here to read the MVNSEF board’s statement regarding COVID19.

Pancakes:

Post-race pancakes are your responsibility this year!  But take a photo to share!

Take a photo, share the fun!

Connect with other racers by sharing a photo of your run!  Simply upload your photo while submitting your results, and we’ll compile photos and share them along with the results.  We’re planning on some special categories like best warm-up, best pancakes, most patriotic, best running shot, most Mazama, most (best?) fun, and anything else your creativity inspires!

Feel free to use #mazamafunrun to share the event on social media!

Who does the race support?:

The Cove is the Methow Valley’s food bank.  In addition to food, the cove provides other aid and assistance to community members too.

Traditionally, the Mazama Fun Run has been hosted in conjunction with the Mazama Community Club‘s World Famous Pancake Breakfast, which has been cancelled this year due to the virus.  The Pancake Breakfast is a major fundraiser for the MCC, and helps with the upkeep of the historic building.  If you’d like to support the Mazama Community Club, you can make a donation through the MCC website.

This was to be the first year that MVNSEF organized the Mazama Fun Run.  We want to the continue the momentum of this great community tradition by going virtual in 2020.  We hope to help to inspire you and your family to be active and challenge yourself physically over Memorial Day, and connect those who are able to help to those most in need right now.

If you are interested in making a donation to cover the costs of administering the event, you are welcome to do so here.

Cascade Endurance and Methow Valley Nordic Ski Educational Foundation operate under a special use permit with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and is an equal opportunity provider.
